Salon Service Group is seeking a visionary, transformational COO to be a collaborative key member of our Leadership team with the ability to work cross-functionally across our organization.  This hands-on, process-oriented position requires a broad background encompassing supply chain, sourcing, distribution, human resources, IT, accounting, and retail environments. Our COO will be responsible for creating and implementing controls, processes and procedures while encouraging a culture of continuous improvement and best practices to enhance the profitability and efficiency of our operations.  This role offers the incumbent a high profile top operations position for the business and sets out the mandate to take the business to the next level.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee all operational elements including customer service, retail operations, distribution, purchasing, accounting, HR, and IT. Lead the formation of excellent teams to service our growing customer base
  • Possess a solid background in developing and implementing long and short-term strategic plans in addition to running the day-to-day operations of the business
  • Proactively initiate, create, and drive improvements in the processes, tools and capabilities that increase efficiency and effectiveness across the business while increasing customer satisfaction
  • Develop productive, collaborative working relationships with leaders across the organization
  • Lead, develop, and execute analyses and reports to determine operational decisions
  • Work effectively across all functional areas of the business and with support teams. Assure excellent communication and teamwork are always in place. 
  • Maintain excellent quality standards
  • Oversee warehouse and logistics management to assure customer service, supplier and producer success is achieved.
  • Lead a LEAN initiative throughout all functional operating areas, consistently working to identify strategies for automating and streamlining processes and functions
  • Project leadership for all projects undertaken within functional areas of operations
  • Play a key role with Management teams and owner in strategic directions
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure people policies are current and support the direction of operations
  • Oversee product shipping and inventory management
  • Achieve a high level of expertise and understanding of our industry, products and the needs of our customers
  • Assist in compiling SSG's operating budget
  • Lead, train, and develop staff
  • Vendor Management
  • Support owner and other leaders on ad hoc projects as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates will be an exceptional, high-energy and experienced operations executive with a solid background in developing and implementing long and short-term strategic plans in addition to running the day-to-day operations of the business.  Candidates must understand the dynamics of working with a nimble and fast-paced entrepreneurial culture while bringing in a more formal operational process that will facilitate further scaling of the business. Candidates must have experience collaborating cross-functionally with both the executive team and individual department heads to ensure the company's operational priorities are mapped out and aligned with the total company direction.

 

Additional qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
  • 5-10 years of related experience in a high-level management position
  • Proven experience in leading and developing individuals and teams
  • Experience with inventory management, tracking and reporting
  • Experienced member of an executive team at a growing company in the $75M revenue range.
  • Direct experience in managerial finance, formal training a plus
  • Experience with multistate processing and distribution in an ERP environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, support and management skills
  • Strong operations, customer support and/or fulfillment systems experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain organization and professionalism in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Self-starter who builds rapport and work with people at all levels, both inside and outside the company
  • Team player that places missions before immediate self-interest
  • Motivated by continuous self-growth and learning
